Post-ATM 2023 Sales Mission for Tourism Malaysia in Bahrain and Kuwait
From May 7 to 9, 2023, tourist Malaysia organised a tourist sales mission to Bahrain and Kuwait to take advantage of the GCC nations’ expanding international travel market. The group from Tourism Malaysia, led by Mr. Manoharan Periasamy, Senior Director of International Promotion Division (Asia/Africa), travelled to Manama and Kuwait City to spread the word about Malaysia as a top travel destination.
The goal of the sales mission was to increase Malaysia’s market share, notably through establishing and promoting Malaysia as a top vacation spot for GCC visitors and informing the travel sector about fresh tourist services, deals, and attractions.
There were 14 organisations in the Malaysian delegation, including a variety of hotels and resorts, travel agencies, associations, and state tourism bodies. The trip provides the perfect opportunity for the participants from the Malaysian business sector to strengthen their networking with colleagues from the GCC.
The delegation was also slated to attend a travel market where they could network, talk about future collaborations, and create trip packages with Malaysian vendors. In each of the cities that will be visited, conferences for the media and the tourism industry will be organised. The planned activities concluded in networking dinners, which served as a forum for them to strengthen their ties with their corresponding GCC peers.
Meetings with Gulf Air, Kuwait Airways, leading travel brokers, a courtesy call to the Malaysian High Commissioner to Bahrain and Kuwait, and appointments with influential figures in the Bahraini and Kuwaiti tourist industries were among the other activities of the sales mission.
