US visa: Is the application fee paid in full? Even then, it may expire, warns the US Embassy.

The US Embassy in India notifies visa applicants. Wait periods for visas have drastically decreased. Recently, the US Embassy in India sent out a reminder that those of us who are applying for US visas should take note of. It was observed that if you do not attend the interview within the allotted time, even if you have paid the entire application fee, it would expire.

Applications for US visas, it seems, are only good for a year from the time money is made to make an appointment. and then it loses its validity. Nevertheless, during the COVID period, a few exemptions and extensions were authorized. This month’s conclusion will see the expiration of these facilities.
Check your receipt!, the US Embassy in India tweeted as a reminder. If you submitted your visa application fee prior to October 1, 2022, book your interview now.

The normal window of time for visa applicants to make an appointment before the payment expires is 365 days from the date of payment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, few extensions were given, but they end on September 30. If your fee was paid before October 1, 2022, you need to schedule an interview (or submit your request for an interview waiver, if you qualify) before September 30, 2023. You might have to pay the fee again if you don’t!

NOTE: Although an appointment must be made in the system, even if it is months away, the interview itself DOES NOT have to occur before September 30, 2023.

waiting period for a US visa

Contrasting the lengthy waits encountered since the start of the pandemic, some of which extended up to three years, the United States has seen a considerable drop in visa wait periods.

There is now no wait period for visa processing, according to a recent notification from the US Embassy in Mumbai. The embassy processed nearly 9 lakh non-immigrant visas in the past month alone, and it expects to reach the one million level soon.

In an effort to speed up the visa application process, Prime Minister Modi said in June that H-1B visa holders would be able to renew their visas without leaving the country and that new consulates would be opening in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. –
