According to a recent survey, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey, known as Kapali Çarşı, is the world’s most Instagrammable shopping location.

The international shopping portal Ubuy Hong Kong determined which retail locations are the most Insta-worthy by analyzing Instagram hashtags for a selection of those locations. The inclusion of hashtags pertaining to shopping destinations was contingent upon their perceived possession of a substantial percentage of posts pertaining to the respective shopping districts.

With 3,152,548 Instagram pictures featuring Kapali Çarşı hashtagged, it is the most Instagrammable retail destination globally. Located inside the Istanbul city walls, Kapali Çarşı, also referred to as the Grand Bazaar, spans 61 covered streets and features more than 4,000 shops. Built in 1455 by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II after he conquered Constantinople (now Istanbul), Kapali Çarşı grew over the ensuing centuries to become one of the world’s largest covered markets.
